It's easy to access the many benefits of the program. Simply follow the steps below to become a builder of ENERGY STAR® homes.
Step 1 Enroll
Sign a Builder Participation Agreement, which will:
- qualify you to apply for cash incentives on new-home construction
- guarantee you a free listing on Pacific Power program Web site and ENERGY STAR Web site
- qualify your company for cooperative marketing funds, inclusion in advertising campaigns, and sales and technical support
- applying for funds when you are ready to build an ENERGY STAR qualified home or homes reserves a minimum of $350 per home ($250 for multifamily units) for your project, provided you comply with terms and conditions listed on the form and subject to availability of funds
Step 2 Learn about ENERGY STAR new homes certification requirements
After you submit your application, program representatives will contact you to discuss requirements for obtaining ENERGY STAR new homes certification, including:
- applying correct installation methods and building practices
- using required building components
- allowing inspections by HERS rater to confirm compliance
That's it! Now you are ready to build an ENERGY STAR home.
Step 3 Complete verification
During construction, a verifier will review building components and verify compliance with the Pacific Power ENERGY STAR New Homes Program certification requirements. Key points include:
- a visual inspection and review of local energy code compliance
- verification of relevant component and equipment specifications (windows, HVAC, water heating, etc)
- verification that the HVAC was installed and perfomance tested according to program standards
Step 4 Receive incentive check and Homebuyer Packet
After certification is complete, you will receive:
- an incentive check from the Pacific Power ENERGY STAR New Homes Program
- a Homebuyer Packet including the ENERGY STAR New Homes certificate and a Homeowner Guide
