Ecos Among First to Join Climate Registry

Industry Leader Takes Action on Climate Change

PORTLAND, OR – Ecos Consulting (Ecos) has become a Founding Reporter of The Climate Registry by being among the first to join the organization. The Climate Registry is a non-profit organization established to measure and publicly report greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in a common, accurate and transparent manner consistent across industry sectors and borders. Thirty nine U.S. states, five Canadian provinces, three Native American tribes, two Mexican states and the District of Columbia are the founders of the organization.

“Ecos has demonstrated exemplary environmental leadership by courageously stepping forward to support The Climate Registry in its preliminary stages. We are deeply grateful for their integral support in helping to address the challenge of climate change,” said Gina McCarthy, Chair of The Climate Registry.

A forerunner with more than 10 years of experience in climate solutions, sustainability, and energy efficiency, Ecos has demonstrated environmental stewardship on several fronts by voluntarily committing to measure, independently verify, and publicly report their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions on an annual basis utilizing The Climate Registry General Reporting Protocol. Headquartered in Portland, Ore., Ecos has managed more than 435 projects throughout the United States and Canada since 1996, saving approximately 10 billion kilowatt hours.

“Ecos is proud to be a Founding Reporter of The Climate Registry. We recognize the importance of consistency and transparency in the public reporting of greenhouse gas emissions, and applaud TCR for working to create a unified national standard,” said Jon Thomsen, vice president, Ecos Climate Solutions.

Entities that join before May 2008 are eligible to receive Founding Reporter status.
